A NEW BEGINNING
The Arkansas Rhinos football team will practice for the first time for the 2009 season on Monday, April 6th. It will be a two-hour workout @ Booker Elementary. It will be the Rhinos first time on the field under their new Head Coach, Jamie Washington. Coach Washington has served the Rhinos as their Defensive Coach for the last three seasons. Oscar Malone is stepping down as head coach to focus on the business aspect of the team and to oversee the day-to-day operations with the help of his General Manager, Satena Scoggin , and Community/Public Relations Director, Melissa Woodruff.
Former Head Coach Oscar Malone said, “he is looking forward to the first practice of the 2009 season, and to see how the players adapt to the new plays and schemes that will be added over the next few weeks”. The Rhinos named Kenny Hill as the offensive coordinator who is a former University of Kansas player from the early 90’s.
There will be 72 players fighting for a spot on the Rhinos’ 55-man roster. Head Coach Washington is expecting several veterans to return from last season. With the new talent arriving this season, the Rhinos look to make their first championship appearance.
